Creepy Crafting - Fiendish Feet

Fiendish Feet

As a child of the 80s  (I was born 1982) I grew up with Fiendish Feet yogurts as a treat, these spooky little pots with different monster faces and little plastic feet were so much fun and I loved them! Unfortunately I didn't keep any of my pots but you can still find them on Ebay but with a set of 4 empty pots going for between £200-£500 I won't be collecting any!!! So being a crafty girl I decided to make myself some decor and wearables instead. I also found an amazing t-shirt from NeMa Studios and their FF range is well worth a look as they have a lot of very cool designs including figures, socks and more.

My first Fiendish Feet project was to make two wall decor pieces that I can display in my windows for the trick or treaters this Halloween.

  1. I drew a mock up design to get an idea of what I was doing. I choose the 'Fangs A Lot' & 'Rattle & Bone' characters.
  2.  I then drew these designs bigger, fee hand, onto an old cardboard box from a dog food order as it was good heavy card
  3. Once I had cut out the designs I began painting them in solid base colours with my acrylics
  4.  I then added some painted details
  5. Finally when it was all dry I added a coat of Mod Podge to seal them

Both cutouts cost me £0 as I just used stuff I had lying around at home and they only took a few hours to do, the biggest part was waiting for everything to dry as I'm not very patient!

However, these decor pieces weren't enough foe me as I wanted something to wear! So I found a great pink jumper on Vinted for about £3 and decided to make a 'Fangs a Lot' jumper too!

  1. Bought a good plain jumper
  2. Found some scrap fleece pieces in the right colours in my scrap bin, using fleece should mean I can still machine wash the jumper
  3. Cut out the face pieces in fleece
  4. Worked out the area of the jumper the face would look best on
  5. Then pinned the face pieces to the area I marked
  6. Hand sewed the face in place, this was the most time consuming bit as it was fiddly
  7. Tired the jumper on and altered some facial features to look closer to my sketch

The jumper took about 4 hours as the face pieces were fiddly and the whole thing was hand sewn. I ended up altering the face a little the next day to improve the shape of the eyes and I'm so thrilled with the results. Get ready to see a lot of me in this jumper!!!
